Students spending the summer in New York can get even more from their American stay with a 2 or 3 day excursion to another of the great east coast cities, Boston. The trip includes return transport from our New York Summer Center, student hotel accommodation, all meals, and tours with a professional guide.
A modern, vibrant center of entertainment, sports and shopping, Boston also has a rich history and culture that attracts many visitors each year. The city played a central role in the American Revolution (1765–1783) and today you can walk the Freedom Trail, a city tour connecting significant locations in the history of the US. The trail ends at Boston Common (the oldest city park in the United States) and takes in many interesting local sites and buildings.
Day 1 of our trip also visits Quincy Market, a popular central meeting point lively with shops, stalls, restaurants and cobblestone promenades filled with street performers and musicians. For shoppers there will be free time on Newbury Street, a fashionable destination with an eclectic mix of independent shops and high-end boutiques, famous for its individual character, historic 19th Century brownstone buildings and cultural institutions.
Day 2 begins with a campus tour of the prestigious Harvard University and the MIT Museum. World-renowned as one of the great capitals of learning, Boston is home to over 50 universities and colleges. The United States’ first public school was founded here in 1635, followed by Harvard, the first college established in North America.
Students can explore important local — and national — heritage at USS Constitution, a 200-year-old US Navy ship, and the Bunker Hill Monument, a US National Historic Landmark which commemorates the first major battle in the American Revolution.
